Energy Management Solution (EMS)

Client: IOCL Haldia Township

Location: India

Business Challenges

The IOCL Township required an efficient system to monitor and manage energy consumption across residential and facility infrastructure. However, several challenges impacted operations:

  • Limited Real-Time Visibility: Lack of real-time power consumption data made monitoring difficult.
  • Decentralized Monitoring: Energy usage across multiple buildings and clusters was not centrally tracked.
  • Delayed Decision-Making: Absence of instant insights slowed response to energy-related issues.
  • Inefficient Energy Utilization: Difficulty in identifying consumption patterns led to energy wastage.

Our Solution

To address these challenges, a Smart Energy Monitoring System using LoRaWAN was implemented in 2023.
Centralized Monitoring & Integration

  • Integrated energy meters across multiple clusters within the township.
  • Enabled communication using Modbus RTU (RS485 / RS232).
  • Supported multiple meter makes and models for seamless integration.

IoT-Based Communication Network

  • Deployed LoRaWAN technology for reliable, long-range communication.
  • Installed LoRaWAN nodes and a gateway to enable seamless connectivity.
  • Ensured smooth and consistent data transmission across the township infrastructure.

Real-Time Monitoring & Analytics

  • Configured tags and analytics for effective energy monitoring.
  • Developed EMS dashboards to provide centralized visibility.
  • Enabled trend analysis for better understanding of energy consumption patterns.

Alerts, Reports & Visualization

  • Implemented alerts and notifications for proactive issue detection.
  • Generated reports for performance monitoring and analysis.
  • Provided system visualization (PFD/SLD) for better operational clarity.
